Back to School – Supplies Giveaways

The start of the school year is approaching and with the impact that inflation is causing to some of our finances, we wanted to put together a list of free resources that will help families that reside in Birmingham, Alabama and in the surrounding areas. (Click each of the bulleted items to learn more.)

Free school supplies and community vendors will be at Old Mill Square (106 River Square Plaza Unit 2 Hueytown, AL) from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. on July 27. Students must be in attendance.

Notebooks, pencils, pens, crayons, markers, rulers, glue, backpacks, scissors and more will be available at The Hub (873 Dennison Avenue SW, Birmingham, AL 35211) on July 27 from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. Grades K-12 are eligible. 

Field-Day games and activities, crafts, bouncy house, kiddie pool, school-supplies giveaways (while they last), prize drawings, pizza, Kona Ice, free train rides and a music performance will take place on August 3 at Sicard Hollow Sports Complex in Liberty Park ( 4841 Sicard Hollow Rd, Birmingham, AL 35242) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

At the Back to School Rally and Fun Day, School supplies will be given away at Midfield Community Center (410 Grant St, Midfield, AL 35228) on August 3 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., but students must be present to receive them. There will be free hotdogs, snacks, face painting, and inflatables for all ages! Contact City Hall for more details at 205-923-7578.
